Get Ready for Self-Care Week at Worcester. As the days get shorter, the deadlines get closer, and the weather turns defiantly colder, it can feel harder and harder to find a moment to look after yourself. The reality? This is exactly when self-care is most needed, even though it’s also easiest to forget.
University is full of promise, challenge, and new experiences. It’s also packed with academic pressure, social commitments, and real-world responsibilities – all of which can pile up fast and leave you feeling stressed or stretched. With winter on the horizon, it’s tempting to skip the things that help you stay balanced, just to get through your to-do list.
That’s why Self-Care Week (17th–21st November) couldn’t come at a better time. This national campaign is all about making self-care simple, practical, and actually doable for busy students. It’s not about overhauling your life or adding more pressure—it’s about small, intentional choices that help you stay resilient and well, even when things get tough.
Why should you care about self-care?
Because managing stress, boosting your mood, and staying connected help, you thrive, not just academically, but in every part of life. Simple actions: eating well, sleeping enough, moving your body, reaching out to others, or even just pressing pause – these build resilience against burnout and overwhelm.
During Self-Care Week, we’re making it easy to try something that could make a difference. Drop by for pop-ups at both City and St John’s campus, pick up practical advice from our Wellbeing team (including tips on the “7 types of rest”), learn how the Nutritional Therapy Clinic can provide personalised nutrition suggestions, grab study hacks from Library Services, and hear more about what’s on offer at the gym and Physio Clinic. No matter what’s on your mind – stress, studies, sleep, or just finding someone happy to listen—you’ll find support (and friendly faces) ready to help.
And if you need a moment away from the hustle, join in a yoga session (no experience needed), get some fresh air on a guided wellbeing walk, or tap into your creative side making wildlife-friendly crafts. There’s an event or activity for everyone, all designed to help you reconnect with what keeps you feeling strong, healthy, and positive.
Mark your diary: Self-Care Week kicks off on 17th November. Check out the full schedule on our event page, and keep an eye out around campus and online for top tips, booking links, and reminders. This is your chance to put wellbeing first, get inspired, and build habits that last well past winter.
Because self-care isn’t just for the easy weeks. It’s for every week…and you’re worth the time.
