For new students starting in 2024, we’d like to say Welcome to Worcester and introduce ourselves… Hello, we’re firstpoint…

POINT ONE: ASK FIRSTPOINT
At firstpoint, we’re here to help you access information and support during your studies. If you’ve got a question, whatever it might be, we’re a good place to start. You can visit us on the St John’s Campus, in the Peirson Study and Guidance Centre, phone us on 01905 542551 or email firstpoint@worc.ac.uk.
You’ll also find lots of helpful information (including our opening hours) on the firstpoint webpages.
Sometimes you might have a question that seems a bit weird, or you may not be sure if we’re the right people to ask… Don’t worry, we’re here to listen. If we can’t answer your question ourselves, we’ll do our best to find the correct department for you.

POINT TWO: LOOKING AFTER YOURSELF
It’s not unusual that alongside the exciting opportunities university offers, you may also experience some difficulties and challenges. There is lots of support available, so please let us know about any concerns you are having.
There may be times when you need some advice or information but are not sure exactly what to ask; that’s what firstpoint is here for. We can help you figure out what it is you need to know. We can also help you make contact with other services at the University, such as Wellbeing, Counselling or Mental Health support.
If you want to find out a bit more information before speaking with us, you can take a look at our ‘About Us’ webpage where you can also find an induction video. If you are looking for something specific, check out our A-Z webpages to help you navigate our site.

POINT THREE: BOOKING APPOINTMENTS
Do you need to see an adviser from the Disability and Dyslexia Service, Money Advice, Counselling and Mental Health, Student Support and Wellbeing or Careers and Employability Service? Do you have questions about your accommodation or course options? Are you thinking of broadening your horizons and studying abroad and want to find out more? firstpoint can book appointments with a variety of services at the University.
You’ll find more information about who can help and how to speak to support teams on our Who Can Help webpages, but if you’re not too sure where to start or who to ask, come and have a chat with us at firstpoint and we’ll help you work it out.

POINT FOUR: TRAVEL & TRANSPORT
If you need to find out about travelling to or around campus, borrowing a bike, getting a rail card, student bus travel or collecting a parking permit, we have lots of information. To find out more, just get in touch or look at the Accommodation and Transport section of our webpage.
Everyone is different and if you’re concerned about getting around, AccessAble is an on-line guide which gives the detailed information you need to work out if a place is going to be accessible to you.

POINT FIVE: WHAT ARE FIRSTPOINT’S FIVE POINTS?
Every Monday, firstpoint publishes five top tips – or points – on a topic related to life at university. We cover a wide range of topics, such as making the most of your time as a student, getting help with your studies, working through the challenges of communal living or maybe looking after yourself during exams and assessments.
Why not subscribe to this blog so that you can keep up-to-date and stay informed throughout the academic year?
We wish you all the best for your studies and hope to speak to you soon!
