We have received confirmation from the Student Loans Company (SLC) this morning that the issue regarding incorrect term dates/instalment dates has now been resolved. For those students that have been affected by this, payment of your maintenance loan should be in your bank account by the end of next week at the very latest. We provide data regarding term dates to the SLC via a secure portal. This data is then disseminated down from the SLC to Student Finance England (SFE) for your applications to be processed. As stated in the previous posting, we notified SLC of the amendment to the term date in January 2014 which was in plenty of time prior to the commencement of the 2014/15 academic year. We were led to believe on two occasions in the last 12 months that the situation had been rectified but it was not until students did not receive payments as expected on Monday 13th April that it was evident that there was still an issue. We have logged a formal complaint with SLC about how the situation has been handled and have also expressed our dissatisfaction that staff at SFE were not aware there was an issue.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused but would like to assure you that staff at the University have been working closely with staff at SLC to get this resolved as quickly as possible.
