Peirson Study & Guidance Centre
Now that Phase Two of the building’s redevelopment is complete, these great new facilities are now available in Peirson:
• 396 study spaces (including 42 silent study spaces)
• 212 student access PCs
• A new suite with 40 student access iMacs
• Two new flexible teaching spaces (each with capacity for 20 students)
• The ICT help desk
• Print and copy facilities
• 6 individual study rooms
• 2 Group study areas with large screens
• 1 meeting room (capacity 12 people)
• Wi-Fi access
• Media equipment loans
Peirson is now open every day from 8.30am until 9.30pm. If you need to access the building outside normal office hours then you can use your swipe card to open the entrance next to the Conference Centre. 24/7 access to Peirson is coming soon, but in the meantime you can always use one of the PC rooms in the Edward Elgar Building: EEG031 & EEG169.
There is now a student ‘Study and Research Helpdesk’ on Level 3, by the lifts in The Hive. The desk is usually staffed 10am-7pm Monday to Friday, and 10am-5pm on Saturdays.
Level 4 has now been designated a silent study area and all of The Hive’s meeting rooms have been booked out for students to use for silent study until 16th December. A few other bookings may be in place, but these have been kept to a minimum. A similar block booking has been made for next May before the Independent Study deadline.
