Celebrate Diwali with Craft & Cuppa Club

Celebrate Diwali—the Festival of Lights—with us on Wednesday 22 October, as Craft and Cuppa Club hosts a special extended session from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in The Hangar at the Students’ Union.

Diwali is a vibrant festival celebrated by millions around the world, marking the triumph of light over darkness, hope over despair, and the importance of kindness, community, and renewal. It’s a time when friends and families gather to light lanterns, share traditional sweets, and create colourful art like rangoli and festive decorations.

To join the celebration, simply drop in and get creative – no sign-up needed and all materials provided. Here’s what we’ll be crafting:

  • Lantern Jars
Decorate your own jam jar lantern using acrylic pens and decoupage techniques. We’ll provide battery-powered LED candles so you can safely light up your room with a warm glow—no fire safety worries!
  • Rangoli-Inspired Keyrings
Calling all sewing fans! Create beautifully ornate keyrings with just a few simple stitches. Each wooden base features a pre-printed Rangoli pattern and pre-punched holes—just thread your needle and stitch over and under to reveal a stunning criss-cross design. Mix and match colours, follow the guides, and once you’re done, attach the metal ring and pop it onto your bag or keys. Stitch, sew, design and create!
  • Diwali-Themed Colouring
Relax with some mindful colouring, inspired by Diwali motifs.
