Every Monday, firstpoint publishes five points about a topic related to life at university. This week, we’re exploring how to stay in touch after university and life as an alumni of Worcester…

POINT ONE: BECOMING AN ALUMNI…
When you graduate you will become an alumnus of the University of Worcester, an illustrious community of more than 100,000 former students across the world. The University of Worcester Alumni Network aims to connect former students, encourage ongoing professional development and continue your support from the university.
We encourage alumni to keep in touch, let us know what you are doing now, come back and visit and play an active role in shaping University life for the future.

POINT TWO: KEEP IN TOUCH…

Many of our graduates say that friends for life are one of the most important things that they will take away from their time at Worcester, besides the high-quality education of course. Our alumni network allows you to find old friends when you have moved on to your next adventures!
As well as keeping in touch with your new friends, the University would love to hear about all the many adventures and achievements you have gone on to enjoy in your life after graduation. We regularly share stories of our alumni success on our website and through the media.
If you would like to keep in touch and tell us about your news you can email alumni@worc.ac.uk – You can also email us if you need any help or advice from the University.
There is also a Facebook group where some alumni like to keep in touch with each other.

POINT THREE: BE AN AMBASSADOR…
Being an alumni is about more than just news and keeping in touch. Our alumni are not only a great source of pride for the University, but an invaluable network of ambassadors that can play an active role in helping to shape and steer the University’s future direction. You know what it is to have lived, studied and succeeded here, whether in 1949 or 2025, and we value your voice and your support in telling others about your experiences.
Our Graduate Stories offer a further insight into the paths our alumni have taken after graduation, and share success stories directly from those who enjoyed their time here!

POINT FOUR: ALUMNI BENEFITS…
If you are not quite ready to call time on your Worcester experience just yet, remember that any students who have completed a BA, BSc or LLB award and then move on to a full-time Masters or PhD course at Worcester receive a 20% discount on their tuition fees. (Students are entitled to one discount only and cannot combine this discount with any other. The University of Worcester reserves the right to change or remove this discount.)
Besides the tuition fee discount on postgraduate study, as life members of the University of Worcester community, graduates can take advantage of alumni benefits:
- Enhanced membership of The Hive: Enjoy 12 3-week loans and access to University High Demand books and key university e-resources, as well as the professional expertise of the Hive staff.
- Careers Support: Former students can continue to use the University’s Careers and Employability Service for up to three years following graduation, to help you get established in the career that’s right for you.
Summer Accommodation 10% discount: If you are organising your own reunion with friends or looking for somewhere affordable to stay in the city, alumni can claim 10% off our accommodation costs during the summer months.

POINT FIVE: EXPLORE OUR ALUMNI HERITAGE…
If you, or someone you know, previously studied at the University – whether in the 1980’s, or even as far back as the 1940’s when the campus was established as a Teacher Training College – you may be able to spot a familiar face in the alumni pictures from the past!
The university archive contains some fantastic images which illustrate our vibrant past, journey of development and our university history. If you have your own pictures to share from days gone by at the University of Worcester, why not get in touch with us via the Alumni Network on alumni@worc.ac.uk
