The holiday season is fast approaching, and what better way to spread some festive cheer than by joining us for a fun-filled carol singing event!
This afternoon, Thursday 19th December 2024, at 2pm in firstpoint, we’re hosting a special event where children from Oldbury Park Primary School will be performing songs from their school show Hansel and Gretel — plus, some of your favourite Christmas carols! And guess what? We’d love for you to sing along! Don’t worry if you’re a bit rusty; we’ll provide lyric sheets so you can join in with all the festive fun.
To make sure everyone’s feeling extra cosy, we’ll be serving hot drinks like cocoa (with marshmallows, of course!) along with some delicious biscuits and chocolates.
Why Should You Join Us?
Aside from the obvious fun (and who doesn’t love a good sing-along?), there are some seriously good reasons to get involved. Singing Christmas carols is not just about hitting the right notes — it’s also great for your wellbeing!
- Boost your mood: Singing your favourite carols can trigger the release of feel-good chemicals like dopamine and serotonin. These natural mood-boosters can help reduce stress and bring a wave of happiness.
- A sense of community: Being part of this event, whether you’re singing or just listening, helps you connect with others and build a sense of belonging. It’s the perfect way to shake off any holiday stress and enjoy the magic of the season.
- Feel good physically: Singing is great for your health too! It helps lower blood pressure, reduce stress hormones, and even improves lung capacity (so don’t be shy when it’s time for those high notes!).
Plus, spending time with others during the holidays can strengthen relationships and create lasting memories — who knows, you might even make a new friend while singing along to Santa Claus is Coming to Town!
This is the perfect way to relax before the holiday break, connect with your university community, and get in the holiday spirit. We can’t wait to see you there for an afternoon full of music, hot drinks, and festive treats. Let’s make this holiday season one to remember!
