Random Act of Kindness Event 14th February 2019

Random Act of Kindness Day is on Sunday 17th February, with Random Act of Kindness Week running from Monday 18th until Friday 22nd February. During this time, people are encouraged to share some extra kindness and compassion, with a view to making selfless acts the norm. It is important to celebrate kindness and the whole ‘pay it forward’ mentality because too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring.

RAK 1
The Student Wellbeing Champions are celebrating Random Act of Kindness Day with an event on Thursday 14th February, to tie in with Valentine’s Day. On this day, the Wellbeing Champions will be in St John’s main reception and City campus, by the museum, from 10am – 3pm. They will be sharing the love by giving out ideas for random acts of kindness – inspiring you to be kind to yourself, others and the environment.

RAK 4They will also be in the Hangar from 12-2pm, joining in with Go Green Week, where they will be focusing on environmental act of kindness.

There will also be some #UWRocks available for writing messages of kindness to others. These rocks will then be varnished and hidden around campus to bring some love and happiness to those who find them.

Finally, following on from a very successful yarn-bomb for last year’s World Mental Health Day, the Wellbeing Champions have also been busy making yarn hearts with kindness quotes attached – these will be placed around both St John’s and City campuses on the morning of Thursday 14th February.

So come and see them in reception, and keep your eyes peeled for hearts!
