The ‘Tour of Britain’ cycle race is coming to Worcester this Wednesday (10th September) with the Worcester to Bristol stage starting at The Hive. There will be an impact on traffic and some car parks close to The Hive will be unavailable. The published detail is as follows:
The Race is coming to the County on Wednesday 10 September and will start from the Cattle Market Car Park in the city centre (beneath The Hive) at approximately 10:30 am. From there the riders will undertake a circuit around the city centre before leaving via St John’s to Bransford, Malvern, Upton, Pershore, Evesham and Broadway.
The route and race operates under a police rolling road closure, which closes the affected roads for a period of 30 minutes at each location (in effect, 15 minutes before the expected arrival time of the riders until 15 minutes after they depart). The roads affected and estimated times of arrival are available from the Tour of Britain website.
The only road closures outside of rolling road closures are planned FULL CLOSURES with no exemptions, as follows:
- The Butts, Worcester – between 4-5.30 am and 9 am – 1 pm
- Church Street, Wells Road and Abbey Road, Malvern – between 8 am – 2 pm
- Market Square, Evesham – between 10 am – 2 pm
- High Street, Broadway – between 10 -11.30 am
Road signage will be placed along the affected route.
