The University has decided to move the ‘designated smoking area’ from its current location. We will be fencing this area off on Monday 10th October, for safety purposes related to the adjacent works. This location will no longer be a ‘designated smoking area’ from this date.
The new ‘designated smoking area’ is located on the opposite side of the Hines building and will be clearly signposted, it is ready to use now and smokers are welcome to use it during the overlap period.
I wanted to also take this opportunity to remind all staff and students that for the health and wellbeing of all site users, smoking on-site is only permitted in the designated smoking area. We will be renewing the no smoking signs across our sites shortly and hope that this, as well as positive re-enforcement from members of staff, will assist in limiting smoking to an area where its impact is minimised.

If you do smoke, please ensure that you put your cigarette butts in the cigarette bins provided.
Your co-operation in relation to this is appreciated.
Many thanks

Despite the no smoking signs, students and staff keep smoking in places within the capmus where it’s not allowed. What actions have been taken to solve this problem?
