To finish our focus on student finances during National Student Money Week, we’d like to remind you how to access your Money Advice Service. We also cover the university’s Access to Learning Fund, and include some helpful information if your reapplying for your Student Finance for the next academic year.
Your Money Advice Service:
The Money Advice Service is here to provide students and potential students at the University of Worcester with welfare and financial advice and support. Our applicants and graduates are also welcome to contact us for advice on student finance.
The Money Advisers offer one to one appointments, including in-person (St Johns campus), telephone and Teams appointments to students. We do not give legal advice but we can help you to identify major elements of your welfare or financial difficulties and provide information, advice and help to resolve them.
You can also book an individual appointment with a Money Adviser, if you would like to discuss your individual circumstances, by contacting firstpoint.
Access to Learning Fund/International Hardship Fund:
The University Hardship Fund is called the Access to Learning Fund. It’s a non-repayable grant to help eligible students experiencing financial difficulties.
The International Student Hardship Fund is also available to international students in year 2 or above and is available to those students with an unexpected financial difficulty requiring one-off, short-term help.
Each application is considered for its own merits, so anyone experiencing financial difficulty is encouraged to apply. You can download the PDF application form from the Money Advice webpage and be sure to check out the guidance notes to help you with the application.
It can help to speak with a Money Adviser for help with budgeting and planning to make your money go further, but you can get started with the resources on their budgeting webpage. If you are struggling to buy the provisions that you need – come and have a chat at firstpoint and we can signpost you to support and help.

Reapplying for your Student Finance:
If you’re looking to apply for undergraduate Student Finance for the next academic year, whether for the first time or as a continuing student reapplying, you’ll be able to do this from the end of March 2026.
You can find out deadlines for applying for your student finance, depending on your course start date, by visiting the Student Finance webpages here. You’ll also find helpful guidance if you’re late submitting your application, but if you’re not sure what to do then you can arrange to speak to a Money Adviser for advice and support.
Why not also visit the Money Advice stand in firstpoint where you’ll find lots of informative literature and forms which you might find helpful in understanding your finances.
