POINT ONE: PRINTING, COPYING AND SCANNING…
The University campuses have many printers available for student use, which also operate as scanners and photocopiers.
Once you submit a print job from a PC or linked device on campus you can print your job from any of the printers across the university. You will just need to tap your student ID card, or log in manually using your university credentials.
All students are allocated £10 complimentary print credit per academic year, however there are several self-service kiosks across campus sites, allowing you to top-up using a card by contactless or chip and pin. A kiosk on Level 1 of The Hive will allow you to top-up using coins and notes.
Did you know that you can also print from your own device using “WebPrint”, which you can find on MyDay under the Print and Copy icon.
You can also scan on any of the printers around campus, and the document will be saved to your OneDrive account.

POINT TWO: FREE SOFTWARE…
Current students can download software for free, including the following:
- Office 365 – including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote
- Microsoft Teams – where you can instant message and video call students and staff, arrange video meetings and share documents.
- OneDrive for Students – your cloud storage space where you can save and access all your work, because your files are in the cloud you can access them from anywhere from any device with an internet connection.
- Microsoft Forms – which enables you to create a form, such as a survey or quiz, invite others to respond to it using almost any web browser or mobile device, see real-time results as they’re submitted, use built-in analytics to evaluate responses, and export results to Excel for additional analysis or grading.
- Microsoft Stream – a video service used to upload, view, and share videos securely.

- IBM SPSS Statistics – a powerful statistical software platform. It delivers a robust set of features that lets your organization extract actionable insights from its data.
Camtasia 2020 – which makes it simple to record and create professional-looking videos on Windows and Mac.

POINT THREE: INTERNET & WI-FI…
Eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. To use eduroam simply attach your device to the eduroam Wi-Fi and open up a browser. You should be prompted to enter your University username followed by your password. Please see the Digital & IT Services webpages for assistance connecting to the wifi.
Our halls of residence internet service (Glide) gives you access to internet services when living in the university accommodation. If you need help with it, use the Glide Instructions and Glide Frequently Asked Questions.


POINT FOUR: EQUIPMENT LOANS…
Short-term (up to four hours) laptop and MacBook loans are available from the self-service facility located on the ground floor of Peirson Study and Guidance Centre – please remember to bring your student ID card with you to access this.
There are also several laptops and MacBooks that you can borrow for up to two weeks. To book these, visit the IT Resources Booking system. You will need to collect your device from the IT Desk on the 1st floor at the Peirson Study and Guidance Centre.
