Creepy crafting for Halloween!

Join us on Wednesday 29th October for a creative, cosy, and slightly spooky afternoon at our Halloween Crafting Session — a free event designed to help you relax, connect with others, and enjoy some seasonal fun.

Spend the afternoon making pumpkin pom‑poms, painting wooden cutlery to create your own Halloween monsters, or putting together quirky skeleton puppets. There will also be Halloween‑themed colouring and puzzles for anyone who wants to unwind more quietly. Free hot drinks will be available throughout, creating a social café‑style space where you can chat with our Student Wellbeing Champions and other students.

Crafting isn’t just creative — it’s scientifically proven to support positive mental health. Activities like painting, making, or decorating help calm the mind, focus attention, and reduce stress by engaging your senses and encouraging mindfulness. The satisfying rhythm of making something with your hands slows down racing thoughts and provides a healthy way to express creativity and emotion. Research shows that creative sessions can lift mood, reduce anxiety, and promote a sense of accomplishment.

Social connection is a major contributor to happiness and wellbeing. Spending time with others in relaxed, low‑pressure settings—like crafting over a cup of tea—can help strengthen a sense of belonging and reduce loneliness. Friendly chats with our Student Wellbeing Champions can also help you find out about support and fellow student initiatives across campus.

Whether you come for the crafts, the company, or just the free cuppa, our Halloween crafting session is a perfect midweek mood‑booster. Bring a friend, make some new ones, and leave with your own handmade pumpkin, monster, or skeleton as a memento of a creative and uplifting afternoon.

No booking required — just drop in, get creative, and enjoy some lighthearted Halloween fun.
