Tours of The Hive
Library Services are running tours for new and returning students in January and February. Discover study spaces to suit your needs and how to: find, borrow and return books; print and copy; access pcs and wifi; get help and more.
Look out too for our ‘relaxed’ Hive tours. These run during quieter times with smaller groups. If you are neurodiverse or have noise sensitivity you might find these tours useful but all are welcome (no disclosures required).

New here? Don’t forget the Welcome Trail
This customisable trail can help you and your new classmates navigate key landmarks in the University and the city.
There are 3 versions of the trail. Choose whether to start at St John’s, City Campus or the Arena.
Library Services and The Hive upcoming maintenance
There will be a couple of short breaks in service towards the end of January just while we make some essential upgrades to systems – please note the dates we’ve listed below:
Catalogue maintenance Tuesday 21- Wednesday 22 January and Sunday 26 January
Our online catalogue won’t be available from 8pm Tuesday 21 until the end of Wednesday 22 January and all day Sunday 26 January. This means you won’t be able to see your library account or place reservations during this time. If you need to find a book in The Hive, talk to one of our lovely library customer advisors (they wear black tops and gold lanyards).
Printing maintenance in The Hive Sunday 26 January
There will be no printing access in The Hive on Sunday 26 January due to essential maintenance. You’ll still be able to use Eduroam, use the study spaces and so on. All other UW printing across campus is unaffected. The nearest networked study spaces are in Jenny Lind or the lower ground floor of Charles Hastings CHLG022 (student card needed to access both).
