News and Updates from your Library Services Team

We’ve scrapped library fines for all University members.

You can borrow up to 12 University High Demand (2 week/ blue sticker) books and 12 other books (3 week/ no sticker). We’ll automatically renew items on your account up to nine times, providing they are not reserved by another borrower. We’ll email you to confirm whether your items have been auto-renewed. Check your university email regularly to keep up to date.

If someone else has reserved a book, you’ll need to bring it back so they can have a turn.
If your book is overdue, a charge of £12 (rising to £30) will block you from borrowing or renewing other items.

DON’T FORGET! The Great Hive Book Rescue is coming

Join us on Wednesday 9 October from 12-2 on Level 0 of The Hive. We have 1000s of previously owned books, all looking for a new home. And the best bit? Each book only costs a pound.

We have textbooks, academic books for a wide range of subjects, fictions, kids’ books, and a whole lot more.

If you still have books to donate you can drop them at firstpoint until Friday 4 October, or at The Hive until Tuesday 8 October.

Read it and reference it!

Maximise your study time with one of our Study Skills Live ‘Reading at university’ sessions. Find out:

  • What to read – and what not to waste your time with
  • Where to find it
  • How to make the most of the good stuff
  • Where to find tools that can help

And it’s never too early to learn how to reference. Join Harvard for the Terrified to find out how to cite sources and create reference lists. Silly questions welcome, and we never make you switch your camera on 😊. We also offer MHRA for the Terrified and APA referencing if that’s your bag.
