Lots of students find it hard to keep up with the amount of reading needed to do a degree. If this feels like you, then these tools might help:
Bookshare
Bookshare lets you download books in a variety of formats, for example PDF, Word, EPUB or DAISY. You can try text-to-speech, see highlighted words while listening, increase the font size and read directly from your internet browser. It’s open to any UW student with neurodiversity, dyslexia, visual impairment or a physical disability.
All you need to do is fill out Library Services’ online form. If you are eligible for an account, Bookshare will help you to personalise your reading experience to suit your needs.
Tools to help with reading
Sometimes reading online is a pain because the screen is too white, the font is too small, or the page is too busy. Try some of Library Services’ list of solutions: may be text-to speech is your thing? Or try Pixie’s reading ruler to highlight the section of text you want to read.
